Hamilton are a small club and can do without criticism from their own fans.

Hamilton chairman Ronnie MacDonald was on the warpath looking for the "idiots" who aimed their frustrated anger against manager Billy Reid and some players following the goalless draw against Hamilton. MacDonald said: "We would take this opportunity to thank those true fans who have contacted the club with information on the identity of several idiots who directed foul and abusive language at the players and management after Tuesday's game versus Kilmarnock. Such behaviour has no place within our club and will not be tolerated. The people responsible will be found and banned from attending any future games at New Douglas Park. We are a small club exceeding expectations due to the efforts of all the staff, players, sponsors and fans. Our enjoyment is working together and we will not have our unity and achievements spoiled by moronic behaviour. We had four youngsters in our pool against Kilmarnock and to continue their development they and the senior boys need your encouragement throughout every game."
Hamilton have increased the net size of their squad by one despite the release of Marvin Andrews, who has since signed for Queen of the South. One part of the balancing items is Joel Thomas who has returned on loan following his summer move to Colchester. Thomas never got a chance to play for the man that took him south as Paul Lambert left to join Norwich after one game of the season. Since that game Thomas made just seven substitute appearances for the League One play-off hopefuls. If the paperwork can be completed in tome, Thomas is in line to face Celtic at New Douglas Park on Sunday Thomas said: "It will be very good for me to go back and I hope that I will do well there. There have been times where I think I shouldn't have left, but I think I have also been unfortunate here. I was feeling very fit when I arrived, but I haven't had much time to play, so I am very happy to go back to Hamilton and to play some football. I have a contract with Colchester and I am not looking too far into the future. At the moment, all I am thinking about is the next game at Hamilton." The other player making a return to Hamilton is defender Brian Easton. He has agreed to return on loan just six months after quitting the side for Burnley. He was signed by former Clarets boss Owen Coyle last summer but has made just one appearance this season in the Carling Cup. The arrival of Danny Fox from Celtic means manager Brian Laws was able to sanction a move back to New Douglas Park on loan for the remainder of the season. Laws said: "He is a player who has got a good future ahead of him and I think it's important he gets as many games as he can. We have loaned him back to Hamilton and hopefully he will get a lot of games and we will monitor him. With Danny Fox coming in it's better to send Brian out on loan so that he gets that experience. He's delighted to do that because he wants to play. It's great for his education and development."
