You go off injured for a month and everything changes by the time you come back!

motherwellMotherwell midfielder Giles Coke has been out of action while a lot of things have happened off the field. He hopes to be involved in Saturday's Scottish Cup game at Inverness after recovering from a knee problem picked up during a 3-2 league defeat to Celtic almost a month ago. During his time on the sidelines, Motherwell have sacked manager Jim Gannon and appointed Craig Brown as caretaker. Coke expects to return to full training today and, providing there is no reaction, should be involved in the fourth-round tie at the Caledonian Stadium.

Speaking on Wednesday, Coke said: "It's looking good now and in the last week I've been doing some running and, all being well, I'll be on the training ground tomorrow. Injuries are probably the worst thing in football and mine couldn't have come at a worse time, what with the old manager leaving and the new gaffer coming in. But it happens, you've got to deal with it and stay mentally strong and that is what I've done. Things haven't been easy with the conditions as they are and trying to find a suitable area to do some of the rehab work has proved problematic at times. But like I say, these are the things that you need to overcome and we've managed to get some work done on the actual pitch. Things are feeling good though and if all goes well tomorrow and Friday, then I will be ready and raring to go for Saturday's big cup clash."
