Falkirk have to look ahead and break their poor run if they are to hope to retain their SPL status.

Falkirk have to forget about the disappointment of losing at the semi-final hurdle of the Co-Operative Cup and start winning games in the league. They face an in-form Aberdeen on Saturday and assistant manager Brian Rice has told his players to move on and end a nine-game winless league run. The Bairns have not picked up three points in the SPL since November 15 when they beat Motherwell, a run that stretches back two months. Speaking ahead of the visit of tomorrow's visit of Aberdeen, Rice insists Falkirk's players cannot afford to feel sorry for themselves for long with the club second from bottom in the league.

He said: "
You can't dwell on it; even if we had made it to the final, we could not have thought about that either. Everyone is fine; obviously we are disappointed. It has taken us a couple of days to come to terms with it, getting beaten in a semi-final again. But that was not the priority; we find ourselves in a precarious position so we need to knuckle down and dig deep and get through it. The league is something we need to improve on and everyone knows that; we need to start grinding results out. It's a time for everyone working hard, that's all we do. No-one works harder than our lads. They work in training - our boys work. I could never question their attitude or application - it's just individual mistakes that have cost us."

Falkirk are just two points ahead of basement side Inverness and are six points adrift of third-bottom St Mirren but Rice insists the battle for survival is not just between his side and their Highland counterparts. He said: "
No-one is safe; it's tight but it's not just between us and Inverness. We are looking up and I am sure the teams above us are looking down. Once it gets to the split, that's five cup finals for everyone who's in there. We need a wee break of the ball, a wee touch of luck. I think we have got the squad to get us out of the position we are in. We need a couple of wins; St Mirren did it a couple of weeks ago."
