Chelsea's Petr Cech will sit out Wednesday's game against Scotland

petr cechPetr Cech will not be in Michal Bilek's squad that arrives to provide the opposition when Scotland welcome the Czech Republic for next week's friendly at Hampden. The Chelsea goalkeeper was injured during Wednesday's 2-1 defeat away to Inter Milan in the Champions League, being carried off with a calf-injury. However, there will still be a three players familiar with British football arriving in the form of former Hearts strikers Roman Bednar, now with West Brom, and midfielder Rudi Skacel, now with Larissa, along with Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky.

Despite the loss of Cech, national coach Bilek has named only two goalkeepers, both of whom had unsuccessful spells in English football. Hertha Berlin's Jaroslav Drobny, who has two caps, spent time with Fulham and Ipswich Town without making a competitive first-team appearance before heading for the German Bundesliga club. Michal Danek has been with Czech side Viktoria Pilsen since 2006 but had seven months on loan to West Brom in 2008 without playing for the first-team. The previous year, Danek, who is as yet uncapped, claimed that Celtic were interested in his signature, although that was played down by then manager Gordon Strachan.

Craig Levein's first game in charge of Scotland is a dress rehearsal for competitive games in the forthcoming EURO2012 campaign. The friendly was already agreed before the draw which put the sides in qualifying Group I along with defending champions Spain, Lithuania and Liechtenstein. Scotland play in the Czech Republic on Friday, October 8, with the return group match on Saturday September 3, 2011.
