The SFA have agreed a deal to bring Argentina to Scotland that will not hit the fan in the pocket too much.

The SFA should be congratulated on managing to reach agreement with their Argentinean counterparts to set up a game between the two national sides in November. There was a significant stumbling block to the original plan to bring one of the top sides in the world to Hampden in the form of potential ticket prices. However, after listening to the fans, the SFA have managed to reach a deal that sees prices set at the same as for Scotland's World Cup qualifier against Norway next month, with the highest-priced seats costing £35. SFA chief executive Gordon Smith believes Scotland's friendly against Argentina on 19 November will be "a fantastic occasion." He said: "I am delighted that we have managed to strike a deal to bring Argentina to Scotland. When we were speaking to the representatives, it was clear that the Argentineans wanted to play us and were just as excited as we were about a match at Hampden. We are very pleased that we will be able to put on the game at a pricing structure that will appeal to fans. We want Scotland fans to see the players pit themselves against the best in the world and there are few teams better than Argentina. This is going to be a great match and a fantastic occasion and I know that George (Burley) and the team will put on a show that will do the country proud."

The SFA had pulled out of negotiations for the game in July when the costs associated with bringing Argentina to Glasgow were out of their league with costs of around £1million being bandied around. This figure would have to had to be passed on to the fans in the form of inflated ticket prices. Although the game is not to be a competitive one, Burley insists it will be a worthwhile exercise. He said: "
We cannot wait to test ourselves against one of the best teams in the world."
