Hibs striker Ross Campbell made a decent start to his international career with four goals in three games. He has a chance to increase his goal tally as he is part of Archie Gemmill's Under 20s squad who are in Canada for the World Cup. He is determined to make the best of the opportunity. Ross and the rest of the squad arrived in Victoria, via Amsterdam and Vancouver, on Monday and are preparing for their first game, against Japan on Sunday. As runners-up in last year's under-19 European Championships, Scotland's youngsters are expected to be a team to watch, although Campbell is taking nothing for granted. It's nine long years since Scotland last appeared in the World Cup finals at any age group when Craig Brown led the country to France 98. This is the third time that Scotland have appeared in the Under 20's finals, with '83 and '87 experiences to look back on.

Campbell is determined to savour every moment of the tournament, acknowledging that many players never get the chance to play for their country. He said: "I'm really and extremely proud to be getting the chance to represent my country at this level. I'm lucky that it's my generation that are getting the chance to compete at a World Cup because for Scottish players these opportunities don't tend to come along too often. I've only played three games for the Under-20s and that's the only involvement I've had with Scotland at any level. It's been good playing for them and I've been happy with how I've done. I knew about the competition a good few months ago because guys like Steven Fletcher and Andy McNeil were always odds-on to get there. But I never really thought that I'd get a chance. It's been a bit of a dream really and it's a chance I certainly want to make the most of. It's been a while since Scotland were last at a World Cup and who knows when the next time will be so we have to do ourselves justice."
