John Collins has continued the love affair Hibs seem to have with players from French clubs as he signs Thierry Gatheussi.

Hibs have completed the signing of Cameroonian defender Thierry Gatheussi. The deal was completed with French club FC Sete, just days after manager John Collins described the deal as "dead" when contract talks collapsed. Gatheussi has convinced Collins of his ability to play at the highest level in Scotland and the Hibs manager was relieved to finally clinch the signing. Gatheussi has experience with Montpellier and Cannes in France, and becomes the second defender to join Hibs this summer, after Germany Under-21 international Torben Joneleit arrived on a one-year loan from Monaco.

Collins said of Gatheussi: "He is an accomplished player who we believe will do very well in our league. He can play on either the left or right side of defence and has in fact played in central defence at his previous clubs, and so gives us a few more options in that area. We are delighted to have him at the club."
