It can be hard to agree a deal for less money but the reality is dropping a division reduces the income to pay the wages.

Forfar have lost the services of Michele Lombardi and David King as they have turned down the new contracts offered to them by manager Jim Moffat. Now free agents, both King and Lombardi were regulars in the Loons side last season, however as things stand neither player will return next season. Moffat said: "
I was certainly keen to keep both players. However we were offering reduced terms, which is a road we have to go down in terms of dropping a Division. I assured Michelle that he was very much part of my long term plans, and that he would be battling for a striking place as opposed to being utilised in a wide role. However Michele chose to decline the terms offered. The offer made to David King wasn't derogatory in terms of dropping a division and David recognised this, however I haven't heard back from him."

The departure of the pair end the talks with members of last season's squad. Moffat will now be concentrating on bringing in new faces. He went on: "
I'm still in negotiations with goalkeepers and some of those will fall out of the equation this weekend depending on the answers I get back from them. I'm quite happy with the squad defensively now, and I'm now concentrating on the middle to front areas and I'm in negotiations with players for all these positions."
