John Collins is not limiting himself to home grown players as he looks to build his team for next season.
Hibs had a real French flavour to their side when Scotland manager Alex McLeish was in charge. It could be that French becomes the language of choice down Easter Road way again as manager John Collins say he'll be concentrating on France and Belgium in his search for new faces to bring to Edinburgh. Collins inherited the team that Tony Mowbray built and, after winning the CIS cup and riding out a player revolt, will want to build his own team. Collins has already signed Clayton Donaldson, Brian Kerr and Elias Wagner and is is closing in on a number of targets. The need for a new 'keeper has been there for all to see for most of the season and Collins has narrowed the search down to two and hopes to be able to make an announcement shortly on who will be wearing the gloves in the summer.
Collins wants to bring in at least three other new players before the new season starts off again on August 4 and has been searching the length and breadth of both Britain and Europe. He said: "There are still a few games to be played in France and Belgium so we will be going over to take in some of those matches. We know the specific areas of the pitch we are still looking for new players and we'll be concentrating our attention on finding the right people to fill those positions. We are getting closer to making signings, but at the moment nothing is confirmed. But I would hope we can say something in the next week or so." | Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba net)
