Robert Snodgrass is looking to show what a difference a half year makes in terms of maturity.
 | "'It is brillant here now." |
| Striker Robert Snodgrass enjoyed that promotion feeling when out on loan to Stirling Albion for the second half of last season and want to enjoy it again now he is back with Livingston. He wants to repay the faith shown in him by manager Mark Proctor by helping the club back into the SPL. He may still have the drive and determination to achieve success, which has already seen him linked with a move to Barcelona and establishing himself in the Scotland Under-19 and 20 teams, but he has grown up a bit. He sees that the support and guidance available from Proctor can only help him in his career. He said: "It is brilliant here now. The gaffer insists on a high tempo, high fitness levels and high standards. It is not just launching the ball to the striker, it is about passing and movement and playing with a freedom."
Snodgrass did not play in last weekend's games after picking up a slight strain But he has been eased back into club football, along with fellow Scotland Under-20 star Graham Dorrans, after returning from the Under-20 World Cup in Canada. Proctor believes the young striker will be available for the first competitive game of the season at home against Dundee on Saturday. Proctor said: "We didn't risk him at the weekend, but I think he should be okay."
There is little need to remind everyone that Scotland did not cover themselves with glory in Canada after heading there with high hopes on the back of their Under-19 European runners-up achievements last summer. Snodgrass believes part of the reason for their poor form this time was down to fitness levels. He said "We weren't fit enough. We only had four days' preparation when normally you get two weeks of pre-season. But we have to put Canada behind us, we tried our best - the coaches, the team gave everything, but sometimes it does not work out."
