All footballing careers have to come to an end but there is always management to turn to. Not everybody can make the grade but Neil Lennon says Roy Keane has what it takes.

Strong willed
Roy Keane had to hang up his boots due to his hip injury but that should not stop him staying involved in football. His ex-Celtic team mate Neil Lennon for one has backed Keane to be a successful manager. Lennon had hoped his fellow midfielder would be playing alongside him again this coming season that was not to be when the former Manchester United and Ireland captain was forced to retire due to injury. Lennon said: "If he wants to be a manager, I don't think there are many mentally stronger than Roy. I am sure as soon as he walks into any dressing room anywhere he will get complete respect from everyone."

Lennon has committed himself to another year at Celtic but he believes the departures of both Keane and John Hartson over the summer means adding more experience to the team must now be Gordon Strachan's top priority. They are desperate to make an impact in the Champions League next season - after falling at the first hurdle last year - and Lennon knows Keane would have been a powerful weapon in their arsenal. Speaking of Keane's Celtic exit, the Celtic captain said: "
It was a huge blow. He was such a huge presence at the club and in the dressing room and he would have brought a lot of experience to the European season. I am just really sorry to see him go and sorry that his career had to end so abruptly because it was a great career."
