The pre-season problems start early for St Johnstone with an injury hangover
St Johnstone will have to start next season without the services of striker Steven Milne. The former Dundee and Plymouth Argyle player had managed to overcome the problems caused by a previous knee injury but picked up fresh damage in a training ground accident towards the end of the season. The knee has been repaired in an operation carried out in London but he now faces a frustratingly long recovery period of between three and six months.
Manager Owen Coyle will have to get his black book of contacts out to deal with the lack of options up front with last season's top scorer Jason Scotland already moved on to Swansea. However, there is better news for Coyle about Peter MacDonald who underwent an exploratory operation on his knee last week. Thankfully for MacDonald and the team, no significant damage was found and he fully expects to be involved in the programme of pre-season training with the his team-mates. | Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba net)
