Old Dog Able To Teach Tricks

Desperate times sometimes require desperate measures and being able to call on a experienced player can provide a good safety net.
St Mirren could have the oldest swinger in town playing for them occasionally as assistant manager Andy Millen came back to pre-season training ready for action despite turning 42 last month. Millen became the oldest player to play in the SPL when he helped Saints stay up on their return to the top flight last season. Manager Gus MacPherson has lost central defenders Kevin McGowne and Kirk Broadfoot since the end of last term and may still have to call upon Millen's services if he needs to.
MacPherson said: "Andy will make that decision in terms of availability but I think even Andy would be realistic enough to know that he will not play as much. He has said that himself, but I've seen the shape he has come back from his break and he is a credit to himself. He is in fantastic condition... he will put a few of these younger boys to shame." | Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba net)
