Ian McCall is not wasting time in making changes to Partick Thistle's playing staff.

New Partick Thistle manager Ian McCall has been busy trying the replace the 13 players he said could leave the club. He has already signed three player with SPL experience, Craig Hinchcliffe, Ryan McStay and Mark Twaddle. Midfielder McStay moves from Falkirk from Falkirk for whom he made his debut against Ross County in January 2004, and played 18 times the following season as Falkirk lifted the First Division Championship trophy. In 2005/2006, he split his time between Falkirk, making his SPL debut appearance, and on loan with Queen of the South. He played 14 times while on loan at Palmerston Park as an Ian McCall-led Queens side fought successfully against relegation. Last season McStay made five first team appearances for Falkirk.

He is joined at Firhill by former Falkirk team mate Twaddle, another midfielder, who started his career with Rangers before joining Falkirk in August 2003. His Falkirk debut happened towards the end of the 2003-2004 season in a fixture with Ayr United. In season 2005-06 he only made 8 league and cup appearances during Falkirk's first season in the SPL. Last season Twaddle played 19 times for the Bairns, scoring three goals, including the winner in a 1-0 win against Rangers.

With 'keeper Kenny Arthur moving onto Accrington Stanley, the recruitment of another goalkeeper was high up on the list of priorities for the new managerl. hence the move for Hinchcliffe from St. Mirren. There will be a duel role for Hinchcliffe as he will also act as goalkeeping coach. He is a vastly experienced keeper, who clocked up close on 200 appearances for his first senior team, Arbroath. Hinchcliffe then moved to St. Mirren in the summer of 2003, and prior to his move to Firhill, played 75 times for St. Mirren, including a handful of games in St. Mirren's promotion winning season of 2005- 06. Last season, he worked under McCall on loan at Queen of the South, and kept goal for Queens during their 1-1 draw with Thistle at Firhill in December last year.
