It has been confirmed that the Blue Brazil will hoist the 3rd Division Championship flag aloft a few minutes before the start of their home game against Alloa on Saturday 5th August.

It's been a long time coming alright but under the watchful eye of chairman Gordon McDougall, manager Mixu Paatelainen and new coaches Michael Renwick and Gary Smith a yet to be confirmed 'celebrity' and a representative from the SFL will undertake the flag unfurling at Central Park.

Cowden return to training on Tuesday ahead of their 2006/7 2nd Division campaign and have confirmed their programme of pre-season friendlies.

They open at home to local rivals Dunfermline on July 17th with a 7.30pm kick off. They head south to the north east of England for a game against non-leaguers Ashington on Saturday July 22nd but stop off at Dalbeattie Star for a friendly with the south of Scotland side on the 21st.

First Division St Johnstone come to Central Park on Thursday July 27th and then Cowden's final friendly is against Glenrothes Juniors on Wednesday 2nd August, venue to be confirmed.

Manager Paatelainen is under "
no illusions" ahead of Cowden's step up to Div 2 and any position above the dreaded second bottom 'play-off' place will be counted as success at Central Park this season.

Paatelainen said: "Coming straight back down again would be a bit of a disaster but we have the will and determination to succeed, it's survival first with anything else a bonus but we'll look to get in amongst them when the new season starts".
