Hibs have taken to the fresh mountan air of Austria for pre-season honing of skills and have asked along someone who should feel at home.
Hibs have taken Austrian striker Arno Kozelsky on trial and manager John Collins could make him his sixth summer signing. The DSV Leoben player hit 16 goals in 30 games last season as his team finished third in the Austrian second division. Hibs are heading to Austria this week and Collins decided to ask Kozelsky along to give the coaching staff a second look, having had him on trial earlier this year. Collins said: "It will be a good chance for him to show us what he can do and we will take it from there. We already know a bit about him because he was over at the club at the end of the season but this will allow us to have a closer look at him." Collins is eager to develop competition for places in attack, following Chris Killen's move to Celtic. He has brought in Clayton Donaldson from York and already has Steven Fletcher and Abdessalam Benjelloun in his squad. Collins said: "I'm looking for two more players to be honest, and we have our eye on a couple but we will need to see what develops and certainly nothing is going to happen before we head for Austria. We are thinking of another striker still, big and powerful if we can get it, and another right-sided powerful midfielder."
New boy Donaldson is looking forward to the prospect of making his competitive debut in the Edinburgh derby. The former York striker has been sounding out his new team-mates about games against Hearts and is now hoping to play a part in the August 4 game at Tynecastle. Donaldson said: "When the fixtures came in and it was Hearts against Hibs ... you can't get off to a tougher start really. People have spoken about it and told me what it's like and what to expect. I'm going to enjoy it and I just can't wait." Donaldson also considers the tag 'Arsenal of Scotland' appropriate for Hibs. Goalkeeper Yves Makabu-Ma-Kalambay revealed that his former Chelsea team-mates likened Hibs playing style to that of the Gunners. And Donaldson backed that up, saying: "It's all the slick passing, and all the players are quite quick as well and good with the ball. I'm fairly quick. I'm quick enough anyway." | Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba net)
