St Mirren boss Gus MacPherson has been quietly working away to get new players in place for the new season.
Mason did not fancy the idea of playing in the First Division and opted to leave East End Park. He had joined Dunfermline in 2000 after beginning his career at Manchester City. Glasgow-born Haining has spent all his career with Coca-Cola League One side Oldham but rejected a new offer at the club he captained. Former Arsenal trainee Howard played eight games for Falkirk in a loan period in 2006 before spells at Cardiff and Swansea. He will provide now competition for current number one Chris Smith. Buddies boss Gus MacPherson plans to meet the press with his new signings tomorrow. After losing key men like Simon Lappin, Kirk Broadfoot and John Sutton this year MacPhesron had to do something. The quality of the new signings will give the Saints fans hope for the coming season following their dramatic escape from relegation on the penultimate day last term. MacPherson admitted last season Saints could not compete with any of their SPL rivals in the transfer market but the capture of Dargo, also thought to have been wanted by Falkirk and Killie, shows they mean business. | |||
