Players come and players go and those that remain should grab their chance of promotion to the senior side.

With changes in the first team at Easter Road due to moves, there are now more opportunities for young players at the club to get onto the main stage. Hibs manager Tony Mowbray has encouraged five of the latest batch of youngsters at the club to put themselves on the fast-track to success after they agreed to extend their contracts. Goalkeeper Andy McNeil, defender Kevin McCann, midfielders Darren Smith and Sean Lynch and striker Ross Campbell have all signed new one-year deals and Mowbray would love to see them use the coming months to stake a claim for first-team football. The well publicised injury list towards the end of last season allowed McNeil, Smith, Lynch and Campbell to push their way into the squad with the latter pair making their debuts as substitutes.

Mowbray said: "I didn't anticipate any problems. They are all young men getting an opportunity, the time to develop and mature and see how they come on. They all have a big year ahead of them, firstly they have to cement their place in the reserve team and then try to break into the first team as quickly as they can, that's what football is all about. There are always players coming up behind you so they have a year to push on, progress and develop. They had opportunities to come into the first-team squad last season because of injuries, now they have to see if they can push on and force their way in when we have no injuries. It's up to them."
