A step up the leagues is always a challenge but Gretna should be used to this. However, the First Division could be a step too far, you never know.
Last weekend Rowan Alexander took his Gretna team to their pre-season training camp in Austria. They spent a week training at the luxury camp near Graz which is also used by teams like Real Madrid and Arsenal. The fresh mountain air will have helped get them ready for their pre-season fixtures which start off on 12th July with games against Dalbeattie Star and Threave Rovers. On Saturday 15th July Gretna take on Dunfermline at East End Park, before a closed-door friendly against Rangers at Murray Park on Thurday 20th July.
The team then take to their travels again for games against Rotherham Utd on Saturday 22nd July at Milmoor, Newcastle Utd (closed door) and Morecambe on the 24th and 25th July respectively. Their last pre-season game will be on Saturday 29th July, with Hartlepool United the visitors to Raydale Park. The full list of pre-season fixtures is shown below. - Wed 12th July - Dalbeattie Star (7.45pm)
